Dharamsala by Road

Dharamsala by Train

There are two ways of reaching Dharamsala by train. The first option is to descend the train at Pathankot raiway station and take a car. It takes about 2 and half hours to reach the city by road after a train journey till Pathankot.

Narrow Gauge trains


The next option is to take the narrow gauge train from Pathankot and reach Kangra Valley which is situated about 94 kilometers from Pathankot and then take a taxi or car or bus to Dharamsala. One can also take the narrow gauge line train to Jogindernagar and get down at Chamunda Marg. Chamunda Marg is nearest railway station from Dharamsala on this line.

Local Transportation at Dharamsala

Generally people staying in Dharamsala take buses run by state government to traverse from one part of the city to the other. however, the steep ascend from Lower Dharamsala to Upper Dharamsala within the city only allows taxis and private cars on the road. Buses take a different and longer route winding from the outer parts of the city.
