Apart from the view of Dhauladhar range with its snow capped mountains and natural lakes and waterfalls, the city has been blessed with its own tea gardens. While at Dharamsala, one must visit the tea gardens that are differently grown. The gardens are not wide-spread like the ones found in Assam or Darjeeling. Small rocks and green slanting slopes are the essence of the tea gardens at Dharamsala.
There are two parts of Dharamsala. The Lower part is simply known as Dharamsala while the Upper part is called McLeod Ganj. The climate and the beauty never fail to keep its tourists busy. The tea plantations of Dharamsala are mainly based here which adds more beauty to the beautifully placed city. There are more tea gardens near Gopalpur in Palampur. However, the tea gardens at Dharamsala are more beautiful since it provides the opportunity to a tourist to experience lush green patches of tea trees juxtaposed against the rocky hard and snow capped mountains of Dhauladhar range.
Festival of Tea at Dharamsala
These tea gardens are especially very exceptional since the leaves that are extracted from here are manufactured into edible leaves by renowned tea companies. Furthermore the Kangra Valley Summer Festival held at Dharamsala every year specially exhibits the tea from these tea gardens. The steps of the hill tea plantation at Dharamsala must be explored at least once. The amount of energy required to pluck tea leaves from these gardens can be experienced here.
Area of Tea Gardens at Dharamsala
Tea gardens are spread at different altitudes at Dharamsala. Some are at McLeod Ganj while some are near the road that descends to Kangra. To visit the tea gardens that are placed near McLeod ganj one must take the route by which buses, trucks and heavy vehicles travel from Lower Dharamsala to McLeodganj. The tea plantations have been earmarked by signboard of The Tea Plantation at Dharamsala. The signboard comes just after the wide elbow turn on the road to McLeod Ganj from Dharamsala. One must take a walk to the tea plantations after the sign board.Another patch can be seen while descending towards Kangra from McLeod Ganj. A petrol pump on the right marks the beginning of the road to the tea plantations here. A U-turn curve here leads to two roads. One must take the left road to approach the tea plantations. On about a kilometer a sign board guides to Kunal Pathri which is again a tourist spot for travelers at Dharamsala. Another right turn from the road will reach the tourists to the green plantations of tea trees.
